    Tags: extreem,

Here’s a video from week 3 of our “40 Days of Love” series at Hope Fellowship.  We wanted to keep this series light (the material is pretty dense).  So, in a reprise from week 1…here’s Extreem:

Here’s an awesome mashup of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” and Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida.”  Wow…please take a few minutes to watch the whole thing…beautiful.

If you haven’t caught the show “Fringe” yet, you’re really missing out…especially on the motion graphics title intro, by Andrew Kramer (www.videocopilot.net).  Check it out:

I wanted to share with you one of my new favorite websites, The Art of Manliness. This is a great site that is “dedicated to uncovering the lost art of being a man.” They talk about what made the Greatest Generation so great, how to dress at a Derby, exercises that make you feel like a real man, and one of my favorites:  “Is It Manly?”  Some is tongue-in-cheek, but most is pretty fun and meaningful.  So go check it out - you won’t be sorry…even share it with a friend.

What you are looking at is not a figment of your imagination.

    It is real.

    This…is a superhero.

Apparently, a man in Cincinnati has taken to wearing a costume, patrolling the streets, and combating crime & bad guys like a modern day vigilante.  A real-life Spiderman.

He calls himself the “Shadow Hare.”

    Huh?

He carries handcuffs, pepper spray, and has already been injured trying to help a woman who was being assaulted.

Whatever way you look at it, this guy has some guts.  It really takes guts to do this.  It’s a pretty big leap to go from fantasizing about being a superhero in your off hours to actually buying the tights and doing it.

So, what is that dream in your own life that you always thought it would be cool to achieve, but you really haven’t had the “guts” to do it? Asking that certain girl/guy out?  Starting your own business? Traveling to an exotic place overseas?

Whatever it is…find a way to make it happen…even if others call you crazy.

Because, I’m pretty sure the Shadow Hare is crazy.

    But who isn’t?

If you’re involved in your church media/creative arts team (or department), you need to be at Echo Conference this year.  I went to it last year (it’s inaugural year), and it was by far one of the best conference I’ve ever been to.  I’ve been to the Shift Conference at Willow Creek, Youth Specialties, Lift, Leadership Summit, and a few others.  And Echo has been my all-time favorite.

So, do yourself a favor and head to http://www.echoconference.com and sign up.  Like now. And if you plan on going, let me know so we can connect while we’re there.  It’s held at Watermark Community Church - one of my all time favorite churches.

    I’ll see you there!

Thanks for the kind words. What specifically made Echo your favorite? We are looking to have an even better year than last year, and look forward to seeing you there.

I really want to try and go this year. Do you think we could get our group organized better this year so we can get the discount?

    • aaronalexander 10:22 pm on 05/11/2009 Permalink

Brent - we won’t be taking a big group this year b/c our conference budget was reduced quite a bit. Aubrey and I are going to try and go, and we’d love for you to go this year…but it won’t be a group thing. Let’s talk about getting you there this year…

Dan - Echo was my favorite b/c I feel like it was created just for me and where I’m at. Really looking forward to it this year, and I’ll see ya there!

When things get really busy and hectic (as things have been the past few months), I have the tendency to not only lose focus on some things, but I can feel creatively dry. I have a few tricks to get out of the “funk,” such as changing the music that I listen to in iTunes for a few days, visiting some creative websites (www.smashingmagazine.com is one of the best), or going off campus to work somewhere different for a day. It’s amazing what changing environments can do for that.

What do you do when you are feeling creatively dry?

Tags: 40 days of love, extreme, , more than words, shallow love

This past weekend at church, we started the 40 Days of Love campaign, which is an all-church movement to gear us towards loving our neighbor and loving God.  As we kicked off the series, we wanted to keep it light-hearted.  We didn’t want people scared that it was a 6 week series on marriage or something like that.

So, we wore wigs and covered “More than Words” by Extreme.  You remember this song, right?  If you don’t, here’s the video from 1990:

More than Words - Extreme (Youtube)

Yes. We really did this song…but with a really big twist on it.  I’ll be posting the lyrics and an audio/video file of it soon.  But for now, here’s a taste of what we looked like right before we hit the stage:
